BET Awards Wrap Up

Wow. Sorry folks, its been a minute. But I'm back. That red eye flight back from LA took a lot out of me. But it was worth it and I got some exclusives for you.

So this past weekend I was out in LA for the BET Awards. Just to let you know, the BET Awards is an amazing event! First up was the 3rd Annual BET Awards PRE Dinner which was a nice star studded little gathering. Celebrities such as Jessica Alba, Morgan Freeman, Jamie Foxx, Lil' Mama, Ginuwine, Tyrese, Estelle, and BET Networks Chairman and CEO Debra Lee were in attendance. There was plenty of schmoozing, dancing, eating, and singing that took place including a breath taking performance by Chaka Khan and a throughly entertaining and touching Michael Jackson tribute by numerous artists. I was able to snap some photos and vids for your viewing pleasure that you can check out at our You're So Pop Facebook Fan Page.

Sunday brought about the actual BET Awards. Considering the circumstances, they put together a fair amount of Michael Jackson tributes last minute which I feel came out wonderful. The finale with Jamie Foxx was both a touching and fitting finale to a weekend that caught us all off guard. Other performances included Beyoncé, who took home two BET Awards for Best Female R&B and Video of the Year for Single Ladies, Maxwell, Mary Mary, and Jamie Foxx Ft. T-Pain. Jamie Foxx and T-Pain took home an award as well for Best Collaboration, as did Mary Mary for Best Gospel Album. Wyclef Jean and Alicia Keys were also presented with the BET Humanitarian Award. Wyclef was recognized for his WORK in his native country Haiti and Keys for her EFFORTS in Africa.

All in all, the weekend was a huge success considering the circumstances. I rounded up some pics from TWITTER that I posted from the show for your viewing pleasure. Don't forget that MAXWELL's new album BLACKsummers'night, the first in the triology, drops next week Tuesday July 7. MAKE SURE YOU SUPPORT THE MUSIC PEOPLE!!
